Women's Soccer Falls To Wake Forest, 1-0

Sept. 14, 2003

WINSTON-SALEM - Oregon State's women's soccer team fell to another tough ACC team on Sunday with a 1-0 loss at Wake Forest in the Wake Forest adidas Women's Soccer Classic. With the loss, the Beavers' record drops to 3-2-1, while the Demon Deacon's improve their record to 4-1-1.

The lone goal of the game came in the 78th minute when the Deacons' A.B. Robbins scored from an assist by Sarah Kozey. Kozey gained possession of a loose ball inside the Oregon State penalty box and slotted a pass to Robbins at the near post, where she re-directed it into the back of the net.

The game was very defense-oriented, with only 14 total shots taken in the game. I thought it was a very good game,' said Beaver head coach Steve Fennah. 'Both teams had chances and it could have gone either way. It was an unfortunate way to end the game. We're a young team, so this was a good experience for us.'

On a side note, Brianna Monka was selected to the All-Tournament squad.

The Beavers continue their four-game road trip with a game against UC- Santa Barbara on Friday, Sept. 19.
