No. 3 Bruins Head to Duke adidas Classic . . .
Following a successful weekend at the Loyola Marymount Tournament, third-ranked UCLA (4-0-2) heads to the East Coast this week for the Duke adidas Classic in Durham, N.C. The Bruins will face top-ranked North Carolina (6-0) this Friday at 5:00 p.m. (EST). It will mark the fourth-ever meeting between the two teams and the first since the championship match of the 2000 NCAA College Cup. UNC has won all three previous meetings. It will mark the second time this year that UCLA has faced a No. 1 team, as the Bruins tied then-No. 1 Santa Clara, 1-1 back on Aug. 29. On Sunday, UCLA will take on No. 17 Duke (4-1-1) at 11:00 a.m. (EST). The two schools have only played once, back in 1996, with the Blue Devils taking that decision 2-1. Bruins Go 2-0 at Loyola Marymount Tournament . . ..
UCLA kept its undefeated record in tact over the weekend, going 2-0 at the Loyola Marymount Tournament. The Bruins started the tournament with a 4-0 shutout over Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Friday. The Bruins overcame a slow start to score four second-half goals in that contest. On Sunday, six different players scored goals in a 6-2 decision over Oakland. Bruin midfielder Whitney Jones, who finished the weekend with six points (2g, 2a), had a goal and two assists in that match.

Bruins Move Up to No. 3 Nationally . . ..
After Santa Clara's loss to Virginia over the weekend, the Bruins moved up a spot to No. 3 in both the NSCAA/adidas and Soccer America polls this week. Top-ranked North Carolina and Notre Dame still rank ahead of the Bruins. Texas A&M and Florida round out the top-five in the NSCAA/adidas poll. Complete polls listed at bottom of page.

Oakes Back in Action . . ..
All-American Jill Oakes, who missed UCLA's first six matches of 2003 due to injury, could be back on the field as early as this weekend. She has been practicing with the team and will take part in full-contact drills beginning this week. Oakes suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

Stanford Match to be Televised on Fox Sports Net . . ..
UCLA's match against Stanford in the Bay Area on Oct. 17 will be televised on a delayed basis by Fox Sports Net. Check the Bruin website or your local TV listings for air times. In addition, live audio of that match will be broadcast on .

Pryce Named Preseason All-American, Player of the Year Candidate . . ..
Bruin senior Nandi Pryce, a first-team NSCAA/adidas All-American in 2002, was recently selected as one of just 16 players in the nation named to the 'Watch List' for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy. The award is given annually to the top player in collegiate soccer. In late August, she was also named to Soccer America's Preseason All-America Team. As a junior last season, Pryce helped the Bruin defense rank second in the Pac-10 in goals allowed (13), goals against average (0.57) and shutouts (12). Most recently, she helped the Under-21 U.S. National Team capture its fifth straight Nordic Cup title.
