Women's Golf Takes Eighth At NCAA Fall Preview

Opelika, Ala. - The defending NCAA champion USC women's golf team finished strong with a final-round 296 on Sunday to place eighth at the NCAA Fall Preview held at Grand National Lake Golf Course.

USC shot a three-round total of 902 (+38), 32 strokes behind co-champions Auburn and Duke (870). Arizona was third (878), Oklahoma was fourth (888) and Oklahoma State was fifth (895).

Sophomore Tanya Dergal led the Women of Troy, shooting 220 (+3) to tie for 18th. Sophomore Irene Chow was 25th with a 222 (+6).

Carolina Llano of Pepperdine was the individual champion with a 211 (-5). Lisa Meldrum of Oklahoma was second (214), followed by Erica Blasberg and Cassandra Kirkland of Arizona, Nicole Hage and Diana Ramage of Auburn and Elizabeth Janangelo of Duke, all tied for third at 215 (-1).

Also for USC, freshman Veronica Felibert made her debut, tying for 45th (230), while senior Anna Rawson tied for 53rd (232) and senior Rachel Bell tied for 56th (233).

The Women of Troy are next in action at the Mason Rudolph Championship held in Nashville, Tenn., on Sept. 26-28.
