Philip Ricci Drafted by CBA Team

Corvallis, Ore. - Philip Ricci, a two-year letterman for the Oregon State University men's basketball team, was selected Tuesday in the fifth round (33rd overall) of the 2003 Continental Basketball Association's draft by the Gary (Ind.) Steelheads.

Ricci played as a junior and senior for the Beavers, earning first team All-Pac-10 Conference honors last season after averaging 16.5 points and 8.2 rebounds. He ended his 56-game career, with 55 starts, shooting .528 from the field, averaging 16.4 points, and 7.6 rebounds. He also was honored by being selected to the United States Basketball Writers Association's All-District Team.

Ricci attended Galt High School and San Joaquin Delta Junior College in California before arriving on the OSU campus.

He was one of two players selected from the Pac-10. Arizona forward Rick Anderson was drafted by the Yakima Sun Kings in the first round.
