Chez Reavie Finishes Tied For Fifth At NCAA Men's Golf Preview

Hot Springs, Va.-- Arizona State senior Chez Reavie finished tied for fifth with a 1-over 141 (70-71) at The NCAA Preview, held at the 6,679-yard, par 70 Cascades Golf Course at the Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va., which finished on Tuesday. Arizona State finished tenth with a 30-over 590, while UCLA shot a final round 278 and won the title with a 12-over 572.
Reavie, the 2001 U.S.G.A. Public Links champion, now has 15 top-10 finishes in 31 career collegiate events. It also marked his sixth top-five finish.
John Poucher of UCLA earned medalist honors by shooting a final round 68 and finished with a two-under-par 138. He defeated first round leader Kevin Silva of North Carolina by one stroke.
Alejandro Canizares, the 2003 NCAA champion, shot a 9-over 149 and tied for 42nd. ASU will next compete at the Club Glove Intercollegiate held Oct. 5-7 in Saticoy, Calif.
The event was shortened to 36 holes when rain forced the cancellation of the second round of Monday. The tournament, hosted by Virginia Tech, featured the top field in collegiate golf this fall, as the top seven teams in the nation competed. The Homestead Resort's Cascades Golf Course and Virginia Tech will host the 2004 NCAA Men's Division I Golf Championship June 1-4, 2004.
