Getting to Know Freshman Gina Farias-Eisner

Q: How old were you when you started playing soccer?
A: Nine

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: hang out with friends, go to the beach, cook, go dancing, trying anyhting new and exciteing that I never have done before

Q: What goals have you set for yourself this soccer season?
A: I want to be able to fulfill whatever role my team needs me to fulfill to the best of my ability. Whether that is taking players on down the line and getting crosses off or working back on defense and winning ballsor just cheering for my team and being positive from the sideline. I want to reach the high standards my teammates and coaches have set for me.

Q: Why did you choose to attend Stanford?
A: Ever since I was a freshman in high school I have wanted to come here. Stanford has the best combination of athletic and academic competitiveness and prestige, the most beautiful campus, and the most amazing student body.

Q: What is your favorite part of being Stanford student-athlete?
A: The camaraderie of the team, hanging out with the girls on the team, the competitiveness and intensity of practices, and most of all playing home games under the lights

Q: How do you prepare for a game?
A: I listen to music and visualize my goals for that game.

Q: What is your favorite kind of ice cream?
A: chocolate and peanut butter

Q: What is your best memory of high school?
A: I have many awesome memories of high school. The best experiences I had, though, probably were nights where my friends and I would just hang out, doing random things to keep ourselves entertained.

Q: If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one item you would want to have with you?
A: A giant suitcase with everything I could possibly need in it - pictures, food (my mom's pasta sauce which is the best ever!), soccer gear

Q: Where is your favorite spot to visit?
A: Italy and Amsterdam

Q: Who is your favorite actor? Actress?
A: Denzel Washington and Kate Hudson

Q: If you could be an animal, what would you be? Why?
A: A bird - I would love to be able to fly.

Q: Did you have any pets when you were growing up?
A: No, I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers. There are too many kids in my family to have any pets. Our household was loud and crazy without animals.

Q: What is the best advice you've gotten from your parents?
A: Always have confidence in your abilites and never underestimate determination, perseverance, and hard work.
