2003-04 ASU Women's Basketball Schedule

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's basketball team announced its 2003-04 schedule this week, a challenging schedule that includes 16 home dates and games against eight teams that went to the NCAA Tournament last season including defending NCAA champion Connecticut.

The Sun Devils open the 2003-04 schedule at Wells Fargo Arena with Akron on Friday, Nov. 21 and Grambling State on Sun., Nov. 23. Following their home-opening weekend, the Sun Devils head to Grand Bahamas Island for the Junkanoo Jam Nov. 28-29. ASU will play a pair of perennial national powerhouses starting with Kansas State on Friday, Nov. 28 and either George Washington or Penn State on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Next up for the Sun Devils is the annual Wells Fargo Holiday Classic Dec. 5-6 featuring ASU, Binghamton, Montana State and Western Michigan. ASU wraps up its non-conference home slate on Dec. 10 with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before heading east to take on two-time defending national champion Connecticut at the Hartford (Conn.) Civic Center on Thursday, Dec. 18. The Sun Devils wrap up their East Coast trip and non-conference slate at Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., on Saturday, Dec. 20.

Connecticut will return the game in Tempe next year on Dec. 21, 2004.

The Sun Devils open the Pac-10 Conference slate at Wells Fargo Arena with Washington State (Dec. 27) and Washington (Dec. 29) before hitting the road for games at Arizona, Stanford and California. USC, UCLA and Arizona make stops at Wells Fargo Arena in January, while California, Stanford, Oregon and Oregon State visit Tempe in February.

ASU's regular-season home finale will be Feb. 19 and 21 against Oregon and Oregon State, respectively.

The third annual Pac-10 Conference Tournament gets underway March 5-8 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., while fans will have a chance to experience March Madness in Tempe on March 20 and 22 when the Sun Devils play host to the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.

ASU opens the exhibition season on Thursday, Nov. 6, playing host to Basketball Travelers at 6:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena, while the team plays its final exhibition tune-up at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 vs. the West Coast All-Stars.

Season tickets for Arizona State women's basketball went on sale on Monday, Sept. 22 and range from $170 for floor seats to $85 for reserved seats and $68 for faculty/staff tickets. Single-game tickets are $8 for reserved seats and $5 for general admission and go on sale on Wednesday, Oct. 15. For tickets, call the Sun Devil ticket office at 480-965-2381.

NCAA Tournament tickets will go on sale Monday, Dec. 1 at the ASU ticket office.

The Sun Devils return all five starters from last year's team, which made a school-record fourth consecutive postseason appearance. In addition to returning nine letterwinners from last year, Arizona State regains junior Betsy Boardman who missed all of last season with a knee injury and adds a recruiting class that was ranked in the top 25 in the nation.
