Bruins to Compete in Mason Rudolph Championship

Sept. 25, 2003

The UCLA 13th-ranked women's golf team will compete in the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sept. 26-27, hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Legends Club in Franklin, TN.

The tournament field features 10 of the top 50 ranked teams in the country, including No.2 Auburn and No.3 Arizona. The 6,276-yard course plays to a par of 72.

UCLA will field a team of two seniors, a junior, a sophomore and a freshman. At the Fall Preview two weeks ago the Bruins finished sixth and junior All-American Charlotte Mayorkas tied for 15th place at 219. Mayorkas, ranked 32nd nationally this week, leads the Bruins in scoring average at 73.0.

Also competing will be senior Gina Umeck, a three-time all-conference selection with 100 rounds of collegiate experience. Senior Bridget Dwyer qualified for her second straight road trip and looks to improve on her 82nd place finish at the Fall Preview.

Freshman Hannah Jun tied for 43rd at the Fall Preview but improved her scores each round. She is the defending Junior World champion.

Sophomore Susie Mathews tied for 22nd at the Fall Preview and ranks second on the team with a 73.6 scoring average.
