No. 12 Cal Shuts Out Colorado College, 1-0
Sept. 28, 2003
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Senior defender Amy Willison scored her first collegiate goal to lift No. 12 California to a 1-0 victory over Colorado College Sunday afternoon at Stewart Field. The Golden Bears improved to 4-1-3 with their fourth shutout of the season, while the Tigers dropped to 3-5-1 with their fourth consecutive setback.
Cal senior midfielder Kimberly Yokers set Willison up with a through ball in the 22nd minute, and Willison converted the one-one-one opportunity with Colorado College's goalkeeper, Meghann Loseke. It was Yokers' second assist of 2003 and the 14th of her career.
The Bears outshot the Tigers, 13-6, with Loseke coming up with six saves. Cal's goalkeeper, freshman Anna Key, recorded four saves to earn her second shutout of the season.
Colorado College was forced to play the final 8 minutes, 12 seconds down a player after Stevie Kernan was issued her second yellow card of the game.
Next up on Cal's six-game road swing is a trip to the Midwest to face Missouri on Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. CT, followed by a contest with Marquette on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. CT.
