OSU Looks Forward After Mason Rudolph Championship

Sept. 28, 2003

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Oregon State concluded a disappointing weekend as the women's golf team shot 346 Sunday at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship at the par-72 Legends Club of Tennessee.

After firing a 75 on Saturday, OSU's Leah Whiting shot a final round 84 to finish with a 240 and a tie for 73rd. Following their slide to 17th after two rounds, the Beavers couldn't manage to climb the leaderboard Sunday as they finished with a score of 988.

OSU coach Rise Lakowske is optimistic about next week.

'I saw a few good shots today, but there were a lot of shots that weren't so great. This was a good learning experience and I think we will play better next week.'

Georgia overcame a five-shot deficit after two rounds, firing a final round 293 and finishing at 874 to beat out UCLA by four shots for the team title.

Individually, Arizona's Erica Blasberg narrowly held her one-shot lead in the final round to earn individual medallist honors, edging out Auburn's Maria Martinez by one stroke. Blasberg shot a 74 Sunday, giving her a total score of 3-under 213.

OSU Freshman Lindsay Eide finished her second career tournament in 84th with a 245.

Jill Ferrante and Anna Rosvall finished in a tie for 86th , with Holly Cornell three shots back in 88th.

OSU travels to Sahallee Golf Club in Redmond, Washington to play in the Edean Ihlanfelt Invite Oct. 6-8.
