Sept. 30, 2003

PULLMAN, Wash.- The Washington State men's cross country team is ranked No. 27 in the September 29, Mondo Men's NCAA Division I poll, conducted by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Cougars are also ranked eighth among 15 teams ranked in the West Region.

This is the first time WSU has been ranked in coach Jason Drake's two-year tenure.

The Cougars jumped into the poll after an outstanding performance at the Roy Griak Invitational Cross Country Meet at Minneapolis, Minn. WSU, which took eighth place, was led by the top 25 finishes of juniors Danny Wolf (20th) and Mike Heidt (25th). In finishing eighth, WSU beat ranked teams, Eastern Michigan, Miami of Ohio, Iowa, and Texas.

The next action for the Cougars is Oct. 11, when WSU hosts the Cougar Invite.
