Cougar Quartet Competes in All-American Invitational

THIS WEEK: The Cougars begin play at the All-American Invitational starting Oct. 4 in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Amy Toth, Chris Martinez, and Lorena Arias will participate in singles competition Saturday. Arias/Martinez and Orsolya Sallai/Toth will compete in doubles Saturday as well and Sallai will begin singles competition Tuesday.

HEAD COACH Lisa Hart ON THIS WEEKEND: 'I am excited to have four players competing regionally. The tournament last weekend had some great competition and we were able to turn some losses around and win so I know our players will do well.'

LAST WEEK: The Cougars competed in the Brigham Young Invitational in Provo, Utah. Junior Chris Martinez and senior Zorana Roganovic captured titles in No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Also capturing a title were the doubles tandem of Zsofia Fodor/Nora Gaal in the No. 2 bracket.

UP NEXT: The team will head to Stanford, Calif., for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Oct. 24-27.

COUGARS IN THE RANKINGS: The WSU Cougars finished last season at No. 51 in the ITA rankings. Junior Orsolya Sallai is ranked No. 78 in the ITA preseason poll. Senior Lorena Arias and junior Chris Martinez are ranked No. 41 in doubles.
