Ferris Leads OSU at Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

SAMMAMISH, Wash. - - Oregon State's Kelly Ferris posted a first-round 78 as the women's golf team shot 321 in the first round Monday at Washington's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the par-72 Sahalee Country Club.
Ferris is tied for 39th and the Beavers sit in a tie for 13th with host Washington. Senior Laura Skinner is just one stroke behind Ferris and is tied for 45th.
'They've got to dig down deep and play golf they're capable of playing,' OSU coach Risï¿½ Lakowske said. 'I know they can do it. They've just got to do it.'
California, ranked fourth in the latest Golfweek poll, leads by eight strokes over 13th-ranked USC after shooting a 3-under 285.
Individually, California's Sofie Anderson fired a 3-under 69 and is the leader by a one-stroke margin over her teammate Anna Temple and USC's Irene Cho.
OSU Junior Alex Lucio carded an 82 and is tied for 61st.
