Women's Golf Eighth After First Round at Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - In a week where the Arizona State women's golf team is split into two squads, the Sun Devils are in eighth place after the first day of play at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in Redmond, Wash., and in ninth place after the first round of the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M.

Junior Josefin Gustafsson (Falkoping, Sweden) leads the five Sun Devils playing in Redmond at the par 72, 5,953-yard Sahalee Country Club with a tie for 10th overall after shooting a one-over par 73 on Monday. Junior Erin Tone (Gilbert, Ariz.) is one shot behind Gustafsson with a two-over 74 to tie for 14th place. Others competing for ASU in Redmond include junior Jamie Michaud (University Place, Wash.), who is tied for 39th at 6-over 78, freshman Tiffany Tavee (Gilbert, Ariz.), who is tied for 57th at nine-over 79 and senior Beatriz Conti (Caracas, Venezuela) who is tied for 61st at 10-over 82.

California has a commanding team lead at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational as the Golden Bears shot a combined three-under 285 on the first day to lead USC by eight strokes. Cal's Sofie Andersson leads the individual field by one stroke after carding a three-under 69 on Monday.

Sophomore Alissa Kuczka (Phoenix, Ariz.) is tied for 13th at the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate after shooting a three-over 75 Monday on the New Mexico State University Championship Course. Sophomore Sara Jones (Valencia, Calif.) is just one stroke behind her and is tied for 20th with a four-over-par 76. Others competing for ASU in Las Cruces are freshman Lindsay Anderson (El Paso, Texas) who is tied for 36th at six-over 78, junior Nicole Deacon (Scottsdale, Ariz.) who is tied for 64th at nine-over 81 and freshman Charmaine Erasmus (Bradenton, Fla.) who is tied for 76th at 12-over 84.

Florida State and Oklahoma are tied for the team lead at the Price's Give 'Em Five after each squad shot a combined five-over 293 on day one, while Florida State's Alison Curdt paces the individual field at two-under 70.
