SAMMAMISH, Wash.- -
Oregon State's Laura Skinner fired a 75 as the women's golf team shot 319 in the second round at Washington's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Sahalee Country Club.
Skinner moved up 17 places from Monday and is now tied for 28th at 154 with one round to play Wednesday. The Beavers slipped into 14th with a total score of 640, just four strokes behind Nevada.
'We didn't finish well, which is something we worked on,' said OSU coach Ris Lakowske. 'We will figure it out. The course is hard, but it's not that hard.
'We're not so worried about who we need to beat as we are just trying to play better. They all played well for the first part of their rounds, but lost focus coming in.'
California, ranked third in the latest Golfweek poll, saw its eight-stroke lead cut to one over both second-ranked Arizona and fourth-ranked UCLA after shooting a 306 in the second round for a total score of 591.
Individually, California's Anna Temple posted an even-par 72 and is the leader by a two-stroke margin at 142 over UCLA's Susie Matthews and USC's Rachel Bell.
OSU Sophomore Leah Whiting carded a 77 and is tied for 49th at 159.
Rebekah Saxon, playing as an individual, is alone in 74th with a 171.
Washington freshman Amber Prange recorded a hole-in-one on the 155-yard par-3 17th hole.
