Team Gold Wins Washington Swimming Purple and Gold Classic

SEATTLE- A trio of triple events winners lifted Team Gold to the 293-213 victory over Team Purple in Washington's intrasquad swim meet this afternoon at the Husky Pool.

Sharon Olson, Justin Adrian and Luke Ekhoff each won three events for Team Gold. Olson dominated the sprint freestyle races, winning the 50 (24.03), 100 (52.18) and 200 (1:52.89) events. Adrian picked up victories in the 100 (45.51) and 200 (1:41.12) freestyles and the 100 butterfly (51.52). Ekhoff showed his versatility, winning the 50 freestyle (21.58), 200 backstroke (2:01.61) and 200 IM (1:53.51).

Team Gold also had a pair of double event winners in Hannah Jo and Erin Kloos. Jo placed first in the 500 (5:09.86) and 1000 (10:32.49) freestyles, while Kloos won the 100 (1:08.08) and 200 breaststroke (2:27.40) races.

Team Purple's bright spot came from double event winner Anissa Hilyard who picked up victories in the 100 (59.37) and 200 butterflies (2:05.50).

Other highlights included wins by newcomers Nicole Bernard and Ed Switaj. Bernard placed first in the 200 backstroke (2:05.84) for Team Gold, while Switaj won the 200 butterfly (1:55.64) for Team Purple.

The Huskies return to action in two weeks when the women travel to Dallas to compete in the Southern Methodist Classic on October 24-25. The men's team will host the Bellevue Club Team on October 25 at Husky Pool at 10 a.m.
