Washington Volleyball Downs Oregon State, 3-1

CORVALLIS, Ore--The 13th-ranked Washington volleyball team (13-4, 4-4 Pac-10) defeated Oregon State (12-7, 2-5) in four games this evening at the Gill Coliseum. Game scores were 30-19, 23-30, 30-24, 30-27.

The Huskies led the Beavers in every statistical category, including hitting percentage (.312-.251), kills (72-66) and blocks (12.5-6). Washington's 72 kills were the most for the Dawgs in a four-game match this season.

Three Huskies scored double-figure kills, led by sophomore Brie Hagerty who notched a career-best 20 kills. Sanja Tomasevic returned strong after missing the Oregon match last night with her seventh double-double, throwing down 18 kills and collecting 18 digs. Kara Bjorklund also contributed to the UW attack with 14 kills.

Freshman Courtney Thompson dished 66 assists on the night her for her second-best showing of the season. She also added 10 digs on defense for the Huskies and hit .500 with three kills on six attacks.

Candace Lee tallied a match-high 25 digs, while Kaitlin Leck and Darla Myhre each logged nine blocks to lead the defensive effort.

Oregon State was led by Amanda Eggert and Allison Lawrence with 17 kills apiece and Karah Rhoades with 18 digs.

Tonight's match was taped by Fox Sports Northwest and will air tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Next up for Washington is a match against cross-state rival Washington State on Oct. 18. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
