ASU's LePeilbet Named Player of the Week

Oct. 14, 2003

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- ARIZONA STATE senior defender Amy LePeilbet has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 7-13, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

LePeilbet, from Crystal Lake, Ill., scored the game-winning goal on a 45-yard free kick to beat Stanford, 1-0. It was the third goal of the season and second game-winner for LePeilbet this year. Against Cal, LePeilbet was at the center of an ASU defense that held California to only seven shots.

ASU (8-2-2 overall, 2-0 in Conference play), swept the Bay Area series for the first time in the program's eight-year history. The Sun Devils' shutout of the Cardinal was their sixth of the year. Arizona State is ranked 24th in this week's NSCAA/Adidas and Soccer America polls, and will cross the desert this Saturday for a battle against rival Arizona.

This is LePeilbet's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and ASU's seventh weekly honor all-time.
