Baseball America Names Arizona Recruiting Class No. 9 In The Nation

TUCSON, Ariz.- Arizona baseball coach Andy Lopez and his staff continued to reap in accolades for the recruiting class they signed last season. Baseball America recently announced that the Wildcats' 2003 class of freshmen and transfers is the ninth-best recruiting effort in the nation. The latest recognition follows up an earlier ranking of No. 4 nationally by Collegiate Baseball.
North Carolina and South Carolina garnered the top two spots in Baseball America's rankings, followed by in state rival Arizona State at No. 3, Georgia Tech at No. 4 and Pac-10 opponent California rounding out the top 5. With Arizona in the No. 9 spot and Stanford No. 11, the Pac-10 had four of the 12 schools listed as the nation's best by the publication.
Arizona's highly regarded newcomers, and the veterans from last season's team opened fall camp on Monday and will spend the next 2 ï¿½ weeks practicing and scrimmaging. All the practice sessions and intra squad games at Frank Sancet Field are free and open to the public.
