Stanford Defeats No. 18 USC In Pac-10 Action

STANFORD, Calif. - Heidi Herrick's goal late in the first half proved to be the difference Sunday as the Stanford Cardinal upset the No. 18 USC Trojans, 2-0, in Pac-10 Conference women's soccer action at Maloney Field.
Herrick scored off a pass in front from Leah Tapscott. The Cardinal added its second goal in the 58th minute on a penalty kick by Natalie Sanderson.
Stanford improved to 7-6-2 overall while USC fell to 6-5-4 as both teams are now 2-1-1 in conference play.
USC will return home on Friday (Oct. 24), hosting Arizona at 2 p.m. at McAlister Field and Arizona State on Sunday (Oct. 26) at 1 p.m. in Pac-10 action. Sunday's game will be the home season finale for the Women of Troy.
