No. 22 UW Women Blank WSU 2-0 in Soccer

Oct. 24, 2003

SEATTLE - Sophomore Kim Taylor scored the game-winning goal Friday and freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Rasmussen registered her third shutout in as many starts as 22nd-ranked Washington blanked Washington State 2-0 in a Pac-10 women's game at Husky Soccer Field.

The Huskies (9-4-3) evened their conference record at 2-2-1 while WSU (5-9-1) dropped to 1-3-1 in Pac-10 play.

Rasmussen was credited with five saves en route to Washington's seventh shutout. The product of Tacoma's Bellarmine Prep High School has not allowed a goal in 405 minutes against collegiate competition.

UW netted an insurance goal at 41:36 on a penalty kick by Liz Taylor. The shot was awarded when Kim Taylor was taken down in the box by a WSU defender.

Goalkeeper Katie Hultin had seven saves for the Cougars who were outshot by a 17-14 margin.

The Washington women return to action next week with a two-game road trip to the Bay Area, beginning Friday, Oct. 31 at Stanford.
