Men's Golf In Fifth After First Round Of The Nelson Intercollegiate

Stanford, Calif. - The No. 13 USC men's golf team shot a 4-under 280 on Friday and are in fifth place after one round of The Nelson Intercollegiate held at Stanford Golf Course.

USC is two strokes behind team leader Duke (278) and one stroke back of Colorado, Kansas and Washington (279).

Junior Ben Hayes leads the Trojans after one round, as he shot a two-under 69 to stand in a nine-way tie for eighth.

Brad Heaven of Toledo is the individual leader after shooting a 64.

Also for USC, sophomore Taylor Wood and junior Nico Bollini are tied for 17th after each shot a one-under 70, freshman Joshua Wooding is tied for 25th after shooting a 71, sophomore Tyler Ley is tied for 30th (he shot 72 and is competing as an individual) and sophomore Bradley Shaw shot 76 and is tied for 65th.

The second round of The Nelson Intercollegiate tees off on Saturday at 8 a.m. The tournament concludes on Sunday.
