CORVALLIS, Ore. - Emily Adams hit .714 with 17 kills to lead the Southern California volleyball team to a 30-24, 30-18, 30-15 win over Oregon State on Saturday night.
The No. 1 ranked Women of Troy improved their perfect record to 20-0 and 11-0 in Pacific-10 play. OSU dropped to 12-11 and 2-9.
'We did some nice things at the beginning of the match. We were up against a much stronger foe, but regardless of whether you're playing the best team in the country or not, there are certain things that need to happen,' OSU coach Nancy Somera said. 'We needed to be more consistent in some areas.'
Adams was the only player for either team to finish with double-figures in the kills column. OSU's Anne Watts-Roberts and USC's Bibiana Candelas each had nine kills.
The Women of Troy hit .356 with 55 kills, compared with OSU's 30 kills and .057 hitting percentage. USC also dominated defensively, with 59 digs and 13 blocks to OSU's 42 and two. Nicole Davis had a match-high 17 digs in just two games of action for USC, while Adams led all players with eight blocks.
