Trojans Place Seventh At The Nelson Intercollegiate

Stanford, Calif. - The USC men's golf team shot 286 on Sunday to finish with a 54-hole total of 850 and place seventh at The Nelson Intercollegiate held on the Stanford Golf Course.

The Trojans finished 16 strokes behind team champion Duke (834). Washington was second (837), followed by Colorado (842), Colorado State (843) and Kansas (844).

Sophomore Taylor Wood, junior Nico Bollini and sophomore Tyler Ley each shot 212 to tie for 18th. Bollini shot a 69 in the third round, while Ley--competing as an individual--fired a 67 in round two.

Ryan Blaum of Duke and Brad Heaven of Toledo tied for the the top spot with a score of 201. Nolan Martin of Colorado State was third (203), Brock Mackenzie of Washington was fourth (204) and Andrew Dresser of Texas Tech, David Jenkins of Missouri and Andrew Price of Kansas were tied for fifth (206).

Also for the Trojans, junior Ben Hayes shot 69 in rounds one and two, but trailed off in round three with a 76 to tie for 34th (214), freshman Joshua Wooding tied for 39th (215) and sophomore Bradley Shaw tied for 70th (225).

USC is next in action at the Hooters Match Play Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC, on Nov. 7-9.
