No. 3 Bruins to Host LMU, USC This Week

UCLA Rounds Out 2003 Home Schedule This Week . . .
Third-ranked UCLA (12-1-3; 5-0-1 Pac-10) will play its final two home matches of the regular season this week. The Bruins kickoff the action this Wednesday as they face Loyola Marymount (7-7-3; 0-5 WCC) at 7:00 p.m. UCLA is a perfect 8-0 all-time against LMU. On Sunday, the Bruins host cross-town rival USC (7-6-4; 3-2-1 Pac-10) in a 1:00 p.m. match. UCLA leads that series 11-2-1, having won the last three. The Bruins and Women of Troy played marathon match in the second round of last year's NCAA Tournament, with UCLA coming away with the 1-0 double-overtime victory. Sunday's match will also count toward the season-long race for the Lexus Gauntlet.

Bruins Sweep Arizona Schools . . .
UCLA outscored the Arizona schools 8-1 over the weekend, posting a pair of victories over ASU and Arizona. On Friday, UCLA defeated the Sun Devils 4-1, mostly due to the play of Iris Mora and Sarah-Gayle Swanson. Both players had a hand in all four UCLA goals, and each finished with four points (2g, 2a). The Bruins came back on Sunday to shutout Arizona, 4-0. Similar to Friday, Mora had the game-winning goal , as four different Bruins scored in the victory, helping UCLA remain unbeaten in Pac-10 play at 5-0-1. The Bruins improved their all-time record against the Wildcats to 10-0.
UCLA Leads Pac-10 Race . . .
With a victory over USC on Sunday, UCLA is guaranteed at least a share of the 2003 Pac-10 title. The Bruins currently stand at 5-0-1 with only three conference matches remaining. UCLA was picked to finish second in the Pac-10 at the start the year and is aiming for its fourth conference championship in the 11-year history of the program. Bruins Remain at No. 3 in NSCAA/adidas . . .
With a pair of victories last week UCLA remains at No. 3 nationally in the NSCAA/adidas National Poll. For the second week in a row, the Bruins check in at No. 4 in Soccer America's poll. Regionally, the Bruins remained at No. 1 in the West, ahead of No. 2 Portland, No. 3 Santa Clara, No. 4 Washington and No. 5 Utah.
Mora One Assist Away . . .
Bruin forward Iris Mora stands just one assist shy of tying the UCLA single-season record of 11. Mora currently has 10 on the year and is tied for second place with Kristy Howard. One more and she will tie Stephanie Rigamat who had 11 during the 2000 season. Mora leads the Bruins in scoring with 22 points (6g, 10a).
