Haley Nears 600th NCAA Victory
Head coach Mick Haley could collect his 600th career NCAA victory this week if the Women of Troy defeat both Washington and Washington State. Haley currently boasts a 598-142 career record in NCAA matches (.808).

USC Holds Lead in Conference Race
USC improved to 11-0 in conference play with last week's wins over Oregon and Oregon State to maintain a two-game lead in the race for the 2003 conference title. California is currently in second place with a 9-2 Pac-10 record.

Charting the Streaks
USC has won its last 32 consecutive matches, 12 consecutive home matches and 29 consecutive road matches. The Trojans also have not dropped a road match since the 2001 season (a 3-1 loss at Stanford, 11/10/01).

Two Remain Unbeaten
USC (20-0) and Georgia Tech (20-0) are the only Division I women's volleyball teams that remain unbeaten this season.

20 Wins Match Best Start Since 1977
With last week's wins, USC improved to 20-0, surpassing last year's 19-0 start (USC dropped to 19-1 after falling to Stanford on Nov. 2, 2002). A 20-0 record marks the best start since 1977 when USC captured the AIAW National Championship and finished the season with a 38-0 mark - the first undefeated record ever logged by a women's volleyball team in NCAA or AIAW history.

USC To Face Ninth Top-10 Team
Friday's match against No. 10 Washington will be USC's 10th match-up this season against a ranked team. All of its ranked foes have been ranked among the top 13 and nine of the 10 have been ranked among the top 10. With arguably the nation's toughest schedule, USC has already defeated No. 2 Hawai'i (Aug. 22), No. 3 Florida (Aug. 21), No. 8 Northern Iowa (Aug. 30), No. 8 Pepperdine (Sept. 3), No. 13 Washington (Oct. 4) and No. 7 Stanford (Oct. 17), all by 3-0 scores, and beat No. 9 UCLA (Sept. 19), 3-1, and No. 5 California (Oct. 18), 3-2.

Pac-10 Features Five Teams In Top 10
The Pac-10 continues to show why it is the most competitive volleyball conference in the nation. Five Pac-10 teams are ranked among the top 10 in the AVCA poll this week, including No. 1 USC, No. 6 California, No. 8 UCLA, No. 9 Stanford and No. 10 Washington. Half of the conference is in the top 10 and half of the top 10 is from the Pac-10 Conference. The West Coast Conference (Pepperdine, LMU, Santa Clara, San Diego) is next on the list with four teams ranked in the top 20.

Ross' Spectacular Serving
April Ross added another three service aces last week to bring her season total to 41, surpassing her 2002 total of 38. With 41 this season, she ranks sixth among USC's single season leaders (Nancy Hillman Somera owns the single season record with 59 in 1988).

Losing To The Trojans Is A Good Thing?!?!
So far this season, seven of USC's eight ranked opponents have found that losing to USC is not necessarily a bad thing. Of the seven ranked opponents the Women of Troy have faced and beaten, three teams held on to their rankings the following week (#2 Hawai'i, #3 Florida, #13 Washington) and four teams moved up in the polls (Northern Iowa went from #8 to #6, Pepperdine jumped from #8 to #7, UCLA moved from #9 to #8 and Stanford went from #7 to #6). Cal is the only team to drop from #5 to #7.

Outstanding Numbers
USC is currently leading the Pac-10 in hitting percentage (.356), opponent hitting percentage (.125), kills (17.62) and assists per game (16.08). The Women of Troy lead the nation with their .356 attack percentage, in addition to ranking fourth in kills, fifth in assists and 11th in blocks.

It's All About The Team
Just like last season, USC relies on a true 'team' effort to win matches. There is not just one go-to player for the Trojans, there's a team full of standouts all sharing responsibility. Currently, three players are averaging more than 3.25 kills per game (April Ross - 3.60, Emily Adams - 3.60, Keao Burdine - 3.25), three average nearly 1.0 block per game (Adams-1.46, Bibiana Candelas-1.18, Katie Olsovsky-0.93), three average more than 2.50 digs per game (Nicole Davis - 3.79, Ross - 2.94, Burdine - 2.59) and three players are hitting nearly .400 (Adams - .474, Candelas - .442, Staci Venski - .395).

Washington/Washington State Connections
* Second-year Washington head coach Jim McLaughlin is a former USC men's volleyball coach. McLaughlin coached the Trojans from 1990 through 1996 and accumulated a 142-75 (.654) overall record. He led USC to its fourth NCAA title in 1990 and a NCAA runner-up finish in 1991.
* The Huskies boast two California players on their roster - junior Alexis McDonald (Long Beach) and sophomore Jessica Veris (Manhattan Beach).
* Washington State has three California natives on its roster - freshman Shiela Gluzer (Oak Park), sophomore Brenn Larson (Westlake) and junior Stacey Holbrook (Newhall).

Oregon/Oregon State Recap
vs. Oregon
- Behind a 17.5-point effort by April Ross, USC swept Oregon, 30-28, 30-22, 30-16, on Oct. 24. The Women of Troy did not have one of their best hitting performances through the first two games of the night. Despite winning both sets to take a 2-0 lead in the match, USC hit .200 in game one and .216 in game two (far below its .381 season average). The Ducks, despite poor hitting of their own (Oregon hit .175 in game one and .088 in game two), collected all 12.5 of their total team blocks in just the first two games. By the time the two teams returned to the court from the break, USC had sorted out its difficulties. The Women of Troy recorded a .481 attack percentage in game three, made only two attack errors and did not allow another Oregon block for the remainder of the match.

vs. Oregon State - Emily Adams contributed a team-best 17 kills and 22.5 total points to lead USC to a 3-0 win over Oregon State (30-24, 30-18, 30-15) on Oct. 25. USC made up for a poor blocking performance the previous night by out-blocking the Beavers 13.0 to 2.0. Adams led with a total of eight blocks, while Bibiana Candelas and Staci Venski each added four blocks in the effort. For the second straight night, the Trojans also utilized their entire bench. Oregon State's only lead of the match came early in the first game as the Beavers opened with a 9-8 advantage. After that point, the Women of Troy claimed the lead and never looked back. The Women of Troy hit .356 with 55 kills, compared to the Beavers' 30 kills and .057 hitting percentage.
