TEMPE, Ariz. - Manya Makoski's goal in the 78th minute of play lifted Arizona State (9-4-3; 3-2-1 Pac-10) to a wild 3-2 Pac-10 soccer win over Oregon (8-9-0; 2-4-0 Pac-10) Friday night at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Arizona State is now 38-0 all-time when its scores three or more goals.
The Devils wasted little time getting on the board in the eighth minute when Elizabeth Bogus took a pass from Patrice Feulner, getting behind the Ducks' defense to knock the ball into the lower left corner. Oregon then tied the score at one in the 38th minute when Andrea Valadez scored off of a rebound when ASU goalkeeper Kim Bingham tried to deflect the ball away.
The scored stayed knotted a one until the second half when just over two minutes into the start, Brittany Cooper took a pass in a scramble of players from Bogus, turned around from about 15 yards out and kicked the ball pass Oregon goalkeeper Domenique Lainez. However, Oregon kept the pressure on as Valadez posted her second goal to tie the match in the 57th minute. Valadez received a pass from Carlie Ashcraft from about 20 yards out and drilled the ball into the top right corner pass a diving Bingham.
As time was running down each team made a run at scoring, but ASU tallied the final goal when Makoski turned around and tagged the ball into back of the net from 18 yards out. Katie Mahoney and Feulner were credited with the assists.
