Pullman, WA - At the 2003 Pac-10 Championships, hosted by Washington State and held at the Washington State Golf Course, the UCLA men placed seventh with 150 points. The men's team title was won for the fourth consecutive year by Stanford, which scored 22 points. Capturing the men's individual title was Stanford's Ian Dobson, who completed the 8,000m course in 24:33.9

The Bruin men were led by true freshman Austin Ramos, who placed 22nd in 25:43.4. Junior Jon Rankin placed 25th in 25:51.2. Junior Erik Emilsson was 36th in 26:06.4, followed by redshirt freshman Chad Galbreath, who placed 37th in 26:08.5. Junior Ben Aragon placed 46th in 26:32.1. And, sophomore Mohammed Qazi placed 60th, finishing in 27:11.7.

'We are being led by one of the top freshman runners in the Pac-10,' said head coach Eric Peterson. 'I believe that Austin is also one of the top freshmen in the country. He has been solid every week for us and has raced more than anyone else. In every race, he has found a way to work his way to the front of this team.'

'I believe that there is a lot of parity in the Pac-10 between the second and seventh place teams,' said Peterson. 'Over the next two weeks, we are going to dedicate ourselves to improving upon today's finish at the NCAA Regionals in Portland.'
