Wildcats Fall In Corvallis

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Derek Anderson threw for 308 yards and fourtouchdowns and Steven Jackson caught a TD pass and ran for three more scores inOregon State's 52-23 victory over Arizona on Saturday.

Jackson, the Pac-10's leading rusher, ran for 107 yards on 28 carries, his17th career 100-yard game. It was his first career four-touchdown game.

The Beavers (6-3, 3-2 Pac-10) rolled up 426 yards of total offense to snap atwo-game losing streak.

Arizona (1-8, 0-5) managed just 232 yards in its eighth straight loss.Freshman Kris Heavner was 12-of-28 for 137 yards.

Anderson, who completed 21 of 32 passes with no interceptions, had touchdownstrikes to Jackson, James Newson, Mike Hass and Tim Euhus.

The Beavers led 7-0 after the first quarter, and then scored threetouchdowns in the first 4:49 of the second quarter. Kenny Farley's punt blockset up Jackson's second touchdown run to make it 21-0. The Beavers led 35-0 athalftime.

Oregon State outgained the Wildcats 331-86 in the first half.

Kirk Yliniemi kicked a career-long 54-yard field goal to make it 38-0.

Mike Bell scored on a 10-yard run in the third, the Wildcats' firsttouchdown against the Beavers since 1999. Bell ran for 106 yards.

Arizona got two more points on a safety to make it 52-9 late in the third.The Beavers lined up to punt, but the snap sailed over the head of punter CarlTobey, who batted the ball out of the back of the end zone.

Heavner had two touchdown passes in the final 3:33.

Arizona suspended starting fullback Gilbert Harris and guard Keith Jacksonfor the remainder of the season Friday after the university declared themineligible.

The suspensions brings to three the number of top offensive playersdismissed from the team in as many days. Arizona coach Mike Hankwitz suspendedtailback Clarence Farmer, the Pac-10's leading rusher as a sophomore in 2001,on Tuesday.
