Arizona's Jennifer Abernathy Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- Arizona outside hitter Jennifer Abernathy has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Oct. 27- Nov. 2, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Abernathy, a Sophomore from Antioch, Calif. posted a career weekend in her homecoming split with the Bay Area schools. She collected 43 kills (6.14 kpg) on 67 swings with just eight errors for a team best .522 hitting percentage in Arizona's two matches. Abernathy also added 20 total digs (2.86 dpg) in Arizona's four-game loss at No. 9 Stanford and 3-0 sweep of the No. 6-ranked Cal Bears. Against the Bears, she posted a career-high 24 kills on 34 attempts with just four errors for a .588 hitting percentage. She also had nine digs in the match. For the weekend, she collected a total of 46 points (6.57 ppg).

This is the first weekly honor for Abernathy, and Arizona's 19th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.
