Women's Cross Country Places Seventh At Pac-10 Championships

Pullman, Wash. - Two top-20 finishes paced the USC women's cross country team to seventh place at the 2003 Pac-10 Cross Country Championships hosted by Washington State University.
Sophomore Iryna Vashchuk ran the 6K in 21:58.80 to finish eighth individually, while senior Brooke Thomas ran 22:30.70 to finish 18th. Kate Neeper finished 40th in 23:42.50. Sara Bei of Stanford was the overall winner.
The Women of Troy finished seventh overall with 185 points. Stanford won the team crown with 22 points, followed by ASU (78), UCLA (79), Washington (123), Oregon (161) and Arizona (179).
By finishing ahead of USC, UCLA picks up five points in the race for the Lexus Gauntlet, the trophy awarded the winner of the all-sport competition between USC and UCLA.
Thomas and Vashchuk will move on to the NCAA West Regionals in hopes of qualifying as individuals for the NCAA Championships.
