Paige Mackenzie Leads Field at Hawaii Invitational

Oahu, HI - Washington golfer Paige Mackenzie turned in rounds of 72 and 71 to hold a three-stroke lead after the first day of play at Hawaii's Kent Youel Invitational. The 54-hole event is being played at the Kapolei Golf Course.

Mackenzie's scores helped the Huskies stand second on the leaderboard heading into Wednesday's final 18 holes of play. Washington shot back-to-back rounds of 13-over 301 for a total of 602 on Tuesday. Oklahoma leads the field at 596. The Sooners shot rounds of 297 and 299. Oklahoma was the only squad in the 17-team field to break 300. Texas A&M is third at 604 while San Jose State is fourth at 605.

Sung Ea Lee and Amber Prange both shot 151 to tie for 14th overall after two rounds. Amy Wang is 52nd at 159 while Ashley Bickerton is 57th at 160.

Mackenzie will attempt to win the first tournament in her career. In Washington's last outing, she finished third at the Stanford Invitational. Last year she was third at New Mexico's Dick McGuire Invitatioanl.
