Women's Hoops Adds Cheri Craddock To 2003-2004 Roster

Nov. 5, 2003

SEATTLE - Washington women's basketball has added walk-on freshman off-guard Cheri Craddock to the 2003-2004 roster, UW head coach June Daugherty announced Wednesday.

Craddock, a prep standout in both basketball and track, came to Washington on a track scholarship and will play both sports for the Huskies this year. Craddock is the cousin of Husky men's basketball player Nate Robinson and the niece of Husky football great Jacque Robinson. She will wear jersey No. 2, the same number Nate wears for Washington.

'We're proud to have Cheri join our basketball family,' Daugherty said. 'She showed a lot of courage as a 17-year old freshman to come in here and go through an open tryout. I'm really impressed that she's been able to pick up our system so quickly. We are looking forward to working with her and watching her progress as a player in the program.'

Craddock, a native of Oakland, Calif., is a 2003 graduate of James Logan High School in Union City, Calif. She was a three-time all-league selection in basketball and led her high school team to a pair of league championships during her junior and senior seasons. Craddock was also a two-year captain. She was a two-time MVP at the West Coast Jamboree in Pittsburg, Calif., in 2000 and 2001.

A sprints star in high school, Craddock was a four-year varsity runner, recording personal bests of 11.8 in the 100-meters, 24.0 in the 200-meters, and 54.1 in the 400-meters. She was a four-time all-league selection and was a North Coast Section (NCS) champion 12 times in four seasons. Craddock, a two-time state competitor, helped lead her team to a second-place state finish in 2002. She was a member of the nation's 10th-ranked prep 4x400-meter relay team in 2003.
