Kimberly Yokers Named Second Team Academic All-District VIII
Nov. 6, 2003
BERKELEY, Calif. - California senior midfielder Kimberly Yokers has been selected to the 2003 second team CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII women's soccer team.
Yokers has excelled on the soccer field and in the classroom during her four year at Cal. The U.S. under-21 national team member is tied for the Golden Bears' lead for points (8) and goals (3) this season. Her career numbers are 10 goals and 14 assists for 34 points, but her value to the team goes far beyond statistics. Despite being one of the most fouled players on the field, Yokers has started 78 of the 79 games she has donned the blue and gold during her college career.
Yokers' other accolades at Cal include being selected first team All-Pac-10 and second team NSCAA All-West Region as a junior and earning second team All-Pac-10 and third team all-region recognition as a sophomore. The Seattle product also is a two-time Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention pick. The 2003 postseason awards haven't been announced.
Cal (7-7-4) concludes the 2003 regular season at Stanford tomorrow at 7 p.m.
