Wildcats Compete Across the Country

The Arizona women's tennis team competed in two states today. Junior Dianne Hollands played today in Ann Arbor, Mich. in the 2003 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Senior Debbie Larocque, junior Kelly Perry, and sophomore Kelly Duncan all competed today in Palm Springs, Calif.
Hollands competed in the first round against Florida's Jennifer Magley and won in three sets 2-6, 7-6(8), 7-6(9). She will move on to the round of 16 and will meet Armstrong Atlantic's Zsofia Golopencza tomorrow in Ann Arbor.
Duncan, Perry, and Larocque all lost in their matches today. Duncan fell to USC's Erica Sauer in two sets 6-3, 6-3 in main-draw action. She then went on to lose in consolation play. Larocque also lost in first round main draw action to Ohio State's Erica Fisk 6-1, 6-3. She then went on to lose in the consolation round. Perry was defeated in the first round by UCLA's Anya Loncaric 6-4, 6-0, and did not compete in the consolation round.
The doubles team of Larocque and Perry also lost today in their first round main draw match to UCLA's Loncaric and Joshi, 9-7.
The tournament will resume tomorrow in Palm Springs, Calif. The Fall Desert Classic continues until Nov. 9.
Hollands will resume play tomorrow in Ann Arbor, Mich. The ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships will continue to Sunday Nov. 9.

Doubles (First Round) Loncaric/ Joshi (UCLA) defeated Larocque/ Perry (UA) 9-7.
