No. 11 Washington Sweeps Beavers
Nov. 7, 2003
SEATTLE - Allison Lawrence had a match-high 15 kills, but the Oregon State volleyball team was swept by No. 11 Washington on Friday night. Game scores were 30-21, 30-23 and 30-22.
The loss dropped OSU to 14-12 overall and 4-10 in Pacific-10 play, while Washington improved to 16-7 and 7-7.
'We actually played better than we did last night, but we never really threatened to win any games,' coach Nancy Somera said. 'You like to see your team play hard, and we had some good performances, but the bottom line is, we didn't make plays when we needed to. We passed too tight, and we dug too tight.'
Anne Watts-Roberts added 13 kills to join Lawrence in double-figures, but no other Beaver players had more than five as OSU finished with 41 kills on .177 hitting. Meanwhile, the Huskies hit .356 and had four players in double-figures, led by Sanja Tomasevic with 15.
The Huskies also prevailed defensively, with 60 digs to OSU's 50. Candace Lee and Tomasevic each had a match-high 16 for UW, while K.C. Frederic led OSU with 12. Karah Rhoades added 11 for the Beavers.
