Stanford to Compete in 2003 NCAA Tournament

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's soccer team will make their sixth-straight postseason appearance as they advance on an at-large bid as one of the 64 teams nationwide to compete in the 2003 NCAA Tournament. The Cardinal will face No. 9-seeded Santa Clara in the first round on Friday, Nov. 14, at Santa Clara's Buck Shaw Stadium at 7:30 p.m.

Stanford completed the 2003-04 regular season with a 2-1 victory over Cal in overtime and a 10-8-2 record overall. All-American goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart ended the regular season with seven shutouts and 63 saves. Senior co-captain Allyson Marquand led the Cardinal with 10 goals and 68 shots.

Last season, Stanford advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinal Round before falling to eventual NCAA Champion Portland.
