The EA Sports Southwest All-Stars erased a 16-point second half deficit to defeat Oregon State in a men's basketball exhibition game Tuesday night in overtime, 93-83. Former University of Wyoming guard Brett McFall led EA with 22 points with former Montana player David Bell adding 21.

The Beavers led by six with 1:40 remaining in regulation when guard Lamar Hurd made a free throw, but was denied a chance at the second attempt due to a violation. OSU turned the ball over twice in the final 53 seconds and Hurd has his 12-foot jumper blocked by Bell with three seconds left. Bell had previously tied the game at 75-75 at the 34-second mark with a 25-foot three-point field goal. EA nearly won the game at the end of regulation when Nate Green made a 60-foot shot just after the horn.

EA outscored OSU 18-8 in the extra period, making 11 of 12 free throw attempts.

'We have a young team, that's pretty easy to see,' Beaver second-year head coach Jay John said. 'The faster they can group up, the better we'll be. That's why we play these games.'

Junior guard J.S. Nash led Oregon State with 19 points, while junior forward David Lucas and true-freshman forward Kyle Jeffers each recorded double-doubles. Lucas had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Jeffers made his college debut with 12 points and 11 boards.

'I think people can see promise,' John added. 'I'm pleased with the fact that these guys battled the entire game. They got a little tired in overtime, but we have something to build on.'

The game was plagued by 65 fouls, resulting in five player disqualifications and 73 free throw attempts.

Oregon State concludes its exhibition schedule Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. tip-off in Gill Coliseum against the Sydney Comets of Australia.
