Bruins Defeat EA All-Stars 74-67

In Ben Howland's debut as head coach, the Bruins defeated the EA Sports All-Stars 74-67. Leading the Bruins was freshman forward Trevor Ariza, who scored 17 points, along with two assists. The game's leading scorer was former Bruin Matt Barnes, now playing for the EA All Stars, with 21 points.

On the game, four Bruins were in double figures. Ariza led the way with 17 points, followed by junior forward Dijon Thompson, who had 16 points. Junior guard Brian Morrison tallied 14 points, going 5 of 7 on the night, and 4 of 6 beyond the arc. And, sophomore Ryan Hollins had 10 points.

Four former Bruins were on the EA All-Stars. In addition to the game's leading scorer, Barnes, were 1995 Wooden Award recipient and National Player of the Year, Ed O'Bannon, Rico Hines and Ray Young. O'Bannon had 11 points, three steals and an assist on the night. Hines also notched 11 points for the EA All-Stars and Young had 10 points.

UCLA will return to action Tuesday, November 18, against the Southern California All-Stars in the final exhibition game of 2003. The Bruins begin regular season play Saturday, November 29 at 5:00 PM, against Vermont.
