Nov. 12, 2003

Stanford, Calif. - Cassidy Krug and Sara Bowling won their first career individual collegiate events in a non-conference women's diving meet versus California at the Avery Aquatic Center on Wednesday. Krug captured the 1-meter title with 250.35 points, while Bowling was first in the 3-meter event with 270.00 points.

'Cassidy Krug has really stepped it up and Sara Bowling had an excellent performance in the 3-meter,' said a pleased Stanford diving coach Dr. Rick Schavone after the meet.

Stanford finished first through fourth in both events. Erin Lashnits (231.52) and Bowling (221.48) were third and fourth in the 1-meter, respectively, while Ashlee Rosenthal (269.10) and Brooke Sullivan (265.58) placed third and fourth in the 3-meter.

Lashnits also competed in the 3-meter, finishing sixth with 204.98 points. Rosenthal was seventh in the 1-meter with 200.18 points.

Lila Korpell's fifth-place finish in both the 1-meter (210.00) and 3-meter (212.63) led California.

The meet was held in conjunction with a non-conference triple distance men's swimming and diving meet between Stanford and California.

'We have a real strong team, and they keep getting better each time out,' added Schavone. 'Their placement is indicative of how good they are.'

Stanford will conclude the fall portion of its diving schedule at the Houston Fall Invitational from Thursday-Saturday, November 20-22.
