Movie - I really like foreign films. 'Cinema Paradiso' (Italian) is one I really like. I like 'The Gladiator' a lot too.

Book - The Bible

Music - Classical is my favorite. I love Bach and Tchaikovsky. I also like R&B.

Class at WSU - Philosophy of Language with David Shier was a good one and Historical Linguistics with Lynn Gordon too. I also like language classes.

Pro team - Minnesota Vikings

What is your favorite post-race food? - The day after the race I like to spoil myself with fast food.

Do you prefer reality TV or daytime TV? - If I have to choose one it would be reality.

If you were going to be on Survivor, what would your luxury item be? - A journal

Most memorable sports moment - The UW Dual last year when I won the steeplechase in a close race with Jesse Fayant.

What is your fantasy job? - I'd like to incorporate running professionally with languages. More realistically I'd like to work with classical languages.

Do you have a pre-race routine? - I make sure I drink my tea, chai na maziwa (Kenyan tea).

What conditioning drill do you most dislike? - Lifting weights

What is your ideal vacation? - Being somewhere on the Mediterranean.

The best thing about Pullman is - I like being able to train on the dirt roads. It's a rural community where I always run into friends and people I know.

The thing you miss most about home - My family.

If you could meet anybody, dead or alive, it would be? - My mom's dad. I never met him and I wonder how things would be different if I could have met my grandfather.

Why do you run? - Running is the love of my life. It makes me feel alive.

What advice would you give a young runner? - Try to live a balanced lifestyle. Don't let any aspects of your life cloud another. Life is like a roller coaster. There will be ups and downs so be persistent and keep working hard.
