No. 11 Washington Volleyball Sweeps Washington State

SEATTLE- The 11th-ranked Washington volleyball team (18-7, 9-7 Pac-10) defeated Washington State (8-19, 4-12) in straight games this evening in front of a record crowd of 3,203 fans. Game scores were 32-30, 30-17, 30-26. Tonight was Senior Night and Kara Bjorklund, Diane Halvarson and Libba Lawrence were honored in a pregame ceremony.
Sanja Tomasevic led the Huskies with 20 kills (.341) and 19 digs. It marked the 12th double double of the season for Tomasevic and her ninth match with 20 or more kills.
The Huskies raced out to an 11 point lead in game one (23-12), only to have the Cougars battle back to knot the score at 29-all. WSU fought off three Husky match points before a kill by Bjorklund and an error by Jen Barcus lifted UW to the 32-30 win. Tomasevic had six kills in the game, while Candace Lee picked up seven digs.
Washington was in control throughout game two, never trailing and holding as much as a 14-point lead at 28-14. Tomasevic had seven kills in the game, while Bjorklund contributed six. The Huskies out hit the Cougars .375 to .064 to go into the break with the two game advantage.
Washington took a 21-15 lead in game two but WSU was able to close the gap to 28-25. Hagerty closed out the win for the Huskies with the final two points.
Lee finished the match with 27 digs and Courtney Thompson added 53 assits.
The Huskies wrap-up the Pac-10 season at Arizona and Arizona State next week.
