Swimming And Diving Falls At Arizona

Senior Nicci Fusaro won twice on springboard while freshman Larsen Jensen won two races for the men to lead a handful of Trojan individual victories, but it wasn't enough as the Arizona men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept the Trojans in longcourse meters dual-meet action in Tucson, Ariz., on Friday (Nov. 14).

The Wildcat women's team won, 133-110, while the men's team won 131-111. USC's women fall to 1-1 while the men are 0-2.

Freshman Kalyn Keller won the 800m free in 8:49.71 for the women, the best swim of the day for the Trojans. Her time was less than two seconds off of the school record set by Lindsay Benko (8:47.74). Keller was also second in the 200m free (2:05.18).

Junior co-captain Kaitlin Sandeno won the 200m IM (2:20.21), junior Margie Pedder won the 400m free (4:20.24) while freshman Cait Connealy came away with the win in the 100m free (58.97).

USC's 400m free relay of Connealy, senior Jana Krohn, sophomore Joy Galloway and Sandeno also was victorious in 3:55.45.

Jensen won both the 400m (4:04.25) and 800m (8:20.99) freestyles to lead the Trojan men, who also got wins from sophomore Ous Mellouli in the 200m free (1:53.21), junior Paul Fahey in the 200m IM (2:08.72) and senior co-captain Trent Staley in the 200m back (2:06.59).

Mellouli's win in the 200m free was part of a 1-2-3 finish for the Trojans. Jensen was second in 1:57.41 while sophomore Tyler Panos was third (1:58.43). Freshman Sam Masson finished right behind Staley in the 200m back, taking second in 2:11.17.

Both the USC men and women will compete at Arizona State on Saturday at 11 a.m..
