Yokers Named First Team All-Pac-10

Nov. 14, 2003

BERKELEY, Calif. - Cal senior midfielder Kimberly Yokers was named to the first team All-Pac-10 team for the second straight season, while senior defender Ashley Valenzuela garnered second team honors.

Yokers tied for the team lead in points (8) and goals (3) this season, but statistics don't illustrate Yokers' true value to the team. The Seattle, Wash., product started all 19 games this year and played 90 minutes in all but one contest. She has helped the U.S. under-21 national team to the 2002 and 2003 Nordic Cup titles. Yokers' consecutive first team all-conference selections comes on the heels of being a second team pick as a sophomore.

Valenzuela is the anchor of the Cal defense, which posted seven shutouts in 2003 and a 1.00 goals-against average. This is the Long Beach, Calif., native's first pick to the all-conference squad.

Cal freshman defender Nadia Al-Lami was chosen honorable mention All-Pac-10.
