Bruins Drop Their Final Home Game To Ducks 31-13

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - Kellen Clemens passed for 183 yards and twotouchdowns, and Kenny Washington returned a kickoff 97 yards for another scoreas Oregon took command early in beating UCLA 31-13 Saturday.

By winning for the third time in four games, the Ducks (7-4, 4-3 Pac-10)virtually assured themselves of a bowl appearance. They entertain Oregon Statenext Saturday to complete the regular season.

It also was Oregon's fourth straight victory over UCLA and third in as manyyears at the Rose Bowl. The previous two were by one point.

The Bruins (6-4, 4-3) have lost three in a row following a five-game winningstreak. They play their final game next weekend against No. 2 SouthernCalifornia at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

The outcome wasn't in doubt after Oregon scored three touchdowns in thefirst quarter. The Ducks led 31-6 at halftime.

Clemens completed 14-of-18 passes for 154 yards in the first half and was21-of-27 overall without being intercepted.

Samie Parker had six receptions for 82 yards.

Jason Fife, who usually shares time with Clemens, entered the game for thefirst time with 3:37 remaining - long after the outcome had been decided.

Dave Ball, who leads the country with 15� sacks, got UCLA's only two of thegame - one on Clemens and one on Fife.

UCLA's Drew Olson completed 29 of 49 passes for 249 yards and one touchdownwith one interception. He was sacked six times. Craig Bragg had 10 receptionsfor 115 yards.

Olson was promoted to first-string ahead of Matt Moore, who started theprevious three games at quarterback. The Bruins had been 5-1 in games startedby Olson earlier in the season.

UCLA's Tyler Ebell was the game's leading rusher with 68 yards on sixcarries including a 54-yarder that set up the first of two field goals byJustin Medlock.

Olson's first pass had a disastrous result - Jerry Matson picked it off andreturned it 22 yards for a touchdown to put Oregon ahead for good after just 72seconds of play.

Clemens threw a 40-yard pass to Parker to cap an 80-yard, 10-play drivelater in the opening period to make it 14-0. The TD came one play afterClemens' 21-yard pass to Kyle Weatherspoon on a third-and-18 play.

Medlock's 35-yard field goal put UCLA on the scoreboard for the first time,but Washington scored his TD on the ensuing kickoff to give Oregon a 21-3 leadwith 3:35 left in the first quarter.

Jared Siegel kicked a season-long 51 yard field goal and Medlock answeredwith a 37-yarder in the second period. Clemens threw an 18-yard touchdown passto Tim Day to give Oregon its 25-point halftime lead.

Olson threw a 3-yard TD pass to Akil Harris with 12 seconds to play for theonly scoring in the second half.

Medlock missed a 44-yard field goal in the second quarter and a 32-yarder inthe third period.

UCLA's final home game of the season was played before a disheartened crowdof 56,083 at the Rose Bowl that booed the Bruins off the field at halftime.
