Ebony Hoffman Posts Double-Double In USC's Exhibition Finale

LOS ANGELES - Thanks to a double-double performance from senior Ebony Hoffman, the USC women's basketball team defeated Everyone's Internet, 68-60, in its final exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Lyon Center. The Women of Troy begin the 2003-04 season this Friday, Nov. 21, at New Mexico.
In her first outing of the season, Hoffman led all players with 21 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 60 percent from the field (9-15) and also added two blocks and a steal in the effort. Teammate Rometra Craig also finished in double digits with 10 points.
USC used an 8-0 run in the final two minutes of the game to break a 60-60 tie and clinch the victory. During that span, the Trojans forced four turnovers and two missed shots, hitting four layups of their own to claim the lead.
The Women of Troy, who led 35-34 at the half, saw Everyone's Internet tie the score five times in the second period. EV1 even led by as much as four points on two occasions (50-46 and 52-48), before its efforts were halted in the final stretch.
The Trojans's eight-point margin of victory was their largest lead of the game.
EV1 was led by forward Alicia Thomspon, who scored 17 points and collected nine rebounds.
USC will face New Mexico in the season opener on Friday at 7 p.m. MST.
