No. 9 Cal Comes From Behind To Defeat OSU 3-1

BERKELEY, Calif. - Mia Jerkov hit .362 with 32 kills as the No. 9 California volleyball team came from behind to defeat Oregon State 3-1 on Thursday night. Game scores were 26-30, 30-28, 30-21 and 30-25.
'We played hard and did some good things. We had momentum and played well in games one and two, but then the momentum kind of shifted in game three. They got on a roll,' coach Nancy Somera said. 'This is one heck of a tough conference, and I couldn't be prouder of how our team is competing and going after that hunt for the playoffs. They just keep fighting.'
Anne Watts-Roberts led the Beavers (15-14, 5-12 Pacific-10) by hitting .378 with 20 kills, for her first 20-kill performance since the season opener. Allison Lawrence added 17 kills, enough to move her into 10th place on OSU's single-season list. She now has 387 kills this year, passing Gina Schmidt (385 in 2001) for the 10th spot. Abby Windell also had a solid night, hitting .273 with nine kills, including four kills on .500 hitting in the game one victory.
Laura Collins hit .500 with six kills and had 47 assists to set up an OSU offense that finished with 65 kills and a .254 hitting percentage. Cal (20-6, 11-6) posted 74 kills on .287 hitting. Alicia Powers joined Jerkov in double-figures, hitting .464 with 17 kills.
Cal's defense also finished on top, outdigging the Beavers 76-65. Jillian Davis and Jerkov led all players with 14 digs apiece, while Lawrence and Collins led the Beavers with 13 each. K.C. Frederic and Karah Rhoades also had double-figures for OSU, with each posting 12 digs.
