Beavers Shot Down In Civil War

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Kellen Clemens passed for three touchdowns and ran foranother to lead Oregon to a 34-20 victory over Oregon State on Saturday in the107th Civil War.
Oregon (8-4, 5-3 Pac-10) completed its regular season, while Oregon State(7-4, 4-3) close out against No. 2 Southern California on Dec. 6. Both teamsare likely bowl bound.
Clemens completed 11 of 26 passes for 125 yards, with a a 15-yard TD passfor Dante Rosario in the third quarter giving the Ducks a 28-13 lead.
Derek Anderson was 21-of-45 for 271 yards with one TD and two interceptionsfor Oregon State.
The Beavers scored on Anderson's 1-yard pass to Pat Loney early in thefourth quarter to cut the margin to 28-20, but Oregon's Jared Siegel made upfor an earlier miss with field goals of 18 and 22 yards for the final margin.
After the game, the Oregon players ran to the 'O' at the center of AutzenStadium to celebrate, and were almost quickly engulfed by their fans.
The Ducks held Pac-10 leading rusher Steven Jackson to 68 yards on 18carries. Anderson, who entered the game averaging 126.6 yards rushing, alsocaught six passes for 71 yards.
With the game-time temperature a chilly 38 degrees, Andeson started strong,running 3 yards for a a TD to give the Beavers the lead.
Oregon tied the score midway through the first quarter with Clemens' 15-yardTD pass to Terrence Whitehead.
Oregon took over on downs, and then took advantage of several Oregon Statespenalties for a drive that ended with Clemens' 19-yard TD pass to DemetriusWilliams. Oregon State was penalized for 40 yards, including a personal fouland unsportsmanlike conduct, on the drive.
There was a frightening moment on the ensuing kickoff when Oregon Statereturner Harvey Whiten was hit by Jerry Matson.
Whiten lay motionless on the turf for several minutes and paramedics gavehim oxygen. He did not move even as he was carted from the field on astretcher.
Whiten was taken to a hospital for evaluation. He was moving his arms andlegs but further information on his condition wasn't immediately available.
After Siegel's 53-yard field goal attempt for Oregon went wide right, theBeavers narrowed it to 14-10 on Yliniemi's 29-yard field goal.
The Ducks had their own trouble as the first half wound down. Clemens threwsix straight incomplete passes, fumbled and was sacked twice.
Oregon turned it around to open the second half, with Clemens going 3-for-3and scoring on a 4-yard keeper to make it 21-10.
Yliniemi kept the Beavers in it with a 28-yard field goal to make it 21-13.
