Cal's McArthur, UW's Benjamin, and USC's Bush Named Pac-10 Players of the Week

McARTHUR, BENJAMIN AND BUSH NAMED BANK OF AMERICA HIGHER STANDARDS
PAC-10 FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Wide receiver Geoff McArthur of California, safety Evan Benjamin of Washington and kick returner Reggie Bush of USC have been named Bank of America Higher Standards Pac-10 Football Players of the Week.

McArthur, a junior from Los Angeles, Calif., was the headliner in California's 28-16 Big Game victory over Stanford. McArthur pulled in 16 receptions for 245 yards (15.3) and two touchdowns covering 44 and 21 yards. The 16 receptions established a California school record and marks the second-highest single-game receiving day in Pac-10 history. The California offense amassed 31 first downs and 533 yards total offense (174 rushing, 359 passing) against the Cardinal.

Benjamin, a sophomore from Redmond, Wash., led the Washington defense in the Huskies 27-19 upset win against No. 8-ranked Washington State in the Apple Cup. Benjamin intercepted two passes and had a team-high 10 tackles, six solo, including one tackle for loss. The Husky defense limited Washington State to 16 first downs and a season-low 304 yards total offense, 4-of-16 third-down conversions and forced seven turnovers, including five interceptions.

Bush, a freshman from Spring Valley, Calif., returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown in USC's 47-22 win against UCLA.

Others nominated for offensive player of the week honors were quarterback Kellen Clemens of Oregon and receiver Mike Williams of USC. Also nominated on defense were tackles Igor Olshansky of Oregon and Mike Patterson of USC. Return man Kenny Washington of Oregon was nominated for special teams play.
