UCLA Women's Rowing Signs Six to National Letters of Intent

Los Angeles - The UCLA women's rowing team under head coach Amy Fuller signed six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. Patricia Dudziec, Elizabeth Herron, Sarah Miller, Erika Roby, Kelley Ruland, and Kirsten Triemstra will enroll at UCLA in the fall of 2004.
Patricia Dudziec, a 5'11' senior rower at St. Ignatius College Prep in San Francisco, rowed in the varsity eight at the USRowing Southwest Region Junior Championships last year. Dudziec, a member of the California Scholastic Federation, is also fluent in Polish.
Elizabeth Herron, a 5'9' senior at The Branson School in Ross, CA, is a member of the Marin Rowing Association. Last year, Herron rowed in Marin's varsity eight and varsity four, both of which won gold medals at the USRowing Southwest Region Junior Championships. Her varsity eight squad went on to win the bronze medal at the USRowing Youth Invitational. Herron is also a volunteer at the Marin General Hospital, Big Brothers - Big Sisters of Marin, and Meals of Marin.
Sarah Miller, a 5'11' senior at St. Mary's Academy in Portland, OR, rows for Oregon Rowing Unlimited. A former basketball player, Miller decided to focus exclusively on rowing during her senior year and throughout college. She has received Scholar-Athlete accolades and been listed on her school's President's Honor Roll.
Erika Roby, a 6'0' senior at Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco, previously attended St. Ignatius College Prep. Roby, primarily a basketball player, rowed one season for St. Ignatius. Her cousin Kerri Barrett is an assistant strength and conditioning coach at UCLA.
Kelley Ruland, a 5'9' senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita, is in her first year of rowing at the Newport Aquatic Center. Ruland was previously a swimmer, water polo player, and track and field athlete. She is a member of the California Scholastic Federation and the National Charity League.
Kirsten Triemstra, a 5'6' senior at Torrey Pines High School in Encinitas, is a coxswain for the ZLAC program in San Diego. Triemstra has coxed many of the top crews at ZLAC and had her best success in the lightweight four category. She is a National Honor Society member and plans to be a Premed student at UCLA.
